VE6JY - DON MOMAN
Test tower
- In order to simulate the effects of ground and tower position for
tuning, it was necessary to install a test tower.
- This tower is a self support microwave type tower (very
strong), no guys make it an ideal "test" site. It was raised in one piece
using a crane.
- The foundation is 3 separate pads, each 61 cm (2 feet) wide , 183 cm (6
feet) long and 335 cm (10
to 11 feet) deep. Cement volume was about 10 cubic meters (13 cubic yards) .
- The base is 2 meters (6.5 feet) on a side
- The top is 1 meter (3 feet) on a side
- The height is 36.5 meters ( 120 feet)
- A view of the self support tower with 2 of the 10 meter antennas
being tested.
The 15 meter stack is in the background.
